As President of the Collegiate Chapter of Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI), I welcome you to our web page. The 2007-2008 academic year is set to provide you with lots of industry networking opportunities, professional development, and the chance to personally meet many tourism executives that are part of our monthly industry speaker series. I’m proud to say that the UTSA Collegiate Chapter officers are dedicated to providing you with valuable opportunities to learn more about the world wide trillion dollar tourism industry. Each of us would enjoy the opportunity to personally share with you why we have chosen this industry as our career. Timely Industry Information: Members receive the award winning HSMAI quarterly Marketing Review, monthly electronic Industry Updates, and member only access to www.hsmai.org special sections. Charitable Projects: Members select an annual project to support the community. Support has been provided to the San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association's annual Blue Santa Project with the San Antonio Police Department, the March of Dimes Walkathon and the Walk for a Cure to support breast cancer research. Industry Speaker Series: A free lunch each month with San Antonio tourism industry executives offers members an intimate setting to learn first hand about a specific tourism business and the daily responsibilities of a tourism professional.
Fundraising: Everything from weekend hotel get-aways, romantic dinners, theme park season passes, rounds of golf at San Antonio's premier golf destinations and much more are annually raffled off to raise money for HSMAI activities. ![]() Relationship Building: HSMAI provides opportunities to socialize
with other UTSA students seeking a career in the tourism industry.

National Leadership Conference:
"Reaching Higher Ground: Exploring New Heights" was the theme of the 2008 Leadership Conference held at the five star historic Broadmoor Hotel near Pikes Peak, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Collegiate chapters joined professional chapter representatives from around the world for two days of planning, motivational presentations, awards ceremonies and networking fun. Representing our chapter was Colleen Cline, vice president. ![]() Colleen Cline, (right front) learns about team work from Jim Davidson, mountain climber and adventurist. ![]() "I said to lower the pole to the floor!" ![]() It's not as easy as it sounds to lower a tent pole to the floor using just your finger tips. ![]() Now that's "teamwork!" The San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association (SAHLA) has created a significantly reduced Collegiate Chapter membership of only an additional $25. SAHLA 250 members include San Antonios hotel general managers and industry vendors. Youll receive SAHLAs e-mail invitations to their monthly luncheons (separate cost) and other SAHLA social functions, plus their newsletter. |
