Students who have achieved Junior status with an overall 3.0 G.P.A. and with the permission of the Director of the Tourism Management Program are qualified to enroll in an Independent Study in Tourism. Under the supervision of a faculty member, students will design a research project resulting in a comprehensive written report and presentation.
Previous independent studies have involved primary research of the San Antonio tourism industry’s use of marketing and sales forecasting tools, economic impact studies, analysis of arts and cultural organizations tracking methodologies of tourists to events and the creation of marketing a plan for a hill country bed and breakfast.
