The Westin La Cantera Resort Scholarship

The Westin La Cantera Resort, is the recipient of numerous honors and award including, Golf Magazine’s 2004-2005 “Gold Medal Resort Award” and the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler's 2006 "Gold List" of "The Worlds Best Places to Stay."

Prior to opening its doors in 1999, Tony Cherone, General Manager jointly hosted with the Tourism Management Program a one-day job fair on the UTSA campus which resulted in more than 120 students being employed. Since then hundreds of more students have worked for this award winning resort and the resort’s management team has served as guest lecturers.

In addition to employing UTSA students, Tony Cherone established the Westin La Cantera Tourism Management Endowed Scholarship which will fund scholarships for qualified students studying for a career in tourism.
